The TBT Model B3S and B4S machines represent the very latest in deephole drilling technology: polymer concrete filled machine base, slant-bed design which places coolant and chip conveyor in front of machine, and rack and centric gear headstock and pressure head drive systems are just a few of the features unique to TBT deephole drill machines.

TBT DESIGN ADVANTAGES

The polymer concrete filled machine base increases rigidity and substantially reduces vibration and noise.

ADVANTAGES:
Higher dynamic stiffness
Less vibration =
Less Noise
10x better dampening than cast iron     Improved tool life
45x better dampening than steel     Improved surface finish

The oil pressure head is driven by its own servomotor and centric gear along the same precision rack as the drill spindle and can be designed with either a chuck or clamping cone for workpiece clamping.

The programmed clamping force is maintained via the servomotor throughout the drill cycle: if workpiece elongation occurs due to thermal expansion, the pressure head will automatically retard its position to maintain the programmed clamping force.

Chip conveyor and coolant return are located in front of machine, under the drill and workpiece providing for immediate viewing or collection of chips and a cleaner machine.
The oil pressure head carrier is designed for quick-change. Pressure heads can be changed in as few as five minutes with no need to indicate or re-align the newly installed pressure head.

The tailstock assembly used on our B3S and B4S model deephole drilling machines incorporates a thru-hole larger than the largest drill diameter usable on the machine. Combined with optional rear tailstock bearing and drill bushing assembly, pull-boring operations are possible without the need for a lantern chuck.

OTHER MODEL B3S / B4S FEATURES

  • Available tool expansion system for bottle boring or other I.D. profiling tools.
  • Large capacity coolant system.
  • Constant torque, high power servo spindle motor.
  • Workpiece steady(s) with digital O.D. diameter readout.
  • Quick-change drill tube vibration dampener design.
